Find answers about creating an account, selling, Buy Requests, barter, stories, messaging, privacy, and managing your Social Market HQ account.
Getting Started
Select Get Started or Register from the home page, then enter your email, a username, your full name, and a password of at least 8 characters. You will also need to read and accept our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy before your account can be created. Once you submit, we email you a 6-digit code to verify your address.
After registering, we send a 6-digit verification code to your email. Enter it on the verification screen to confirm your address. You must verify your email before you can sign in. If the code has expired or did not arrive, use the Resend code option and check your spam folder.
If you have forgotten your password, use the password reset option on the login page and follow the emailed instructions. If you are signed in, you can change your password at any time from your account security settings. Always choose a strong, unique password you do not use elsewhere.
Selling & Shops
A shop lets you present your inventory as a business. From your profile, open the shop setup and add your shop details, then start adding products. Keep your inventory accurate and your descriptions honest so buyers know what to expect.
Use the create option to start a new listing, add clear photos, choose the right category and condition, write an accurate description, and set a truthful price. At least one photo is required before you can publish. Good photos and honest details help your item sell faster.
Pick the category that best matches your item so buyers can find it, and select the condition that honestly reflects its state — new, used, refurbished, or as otherwise offered. Some categories, such as pets, use their own condition options. Accurate details build trust and reduce disputes.
Buying, Requests & Barter
A Buy Request tells sellers what you are looking for. Create one from the Requests area, describe the item or service you want, and add any reference images. Sellers who can help will reach out, usually by starting a direct message. Only create requests you genuinely intend to fulfil.
Barter lets you trade items directly. When creating a barter listing, describe what you are offering, what you want in return, and any cash top-up involved. Both sides should confirm the details and inspect the items before completing the exchange. Trades happen at your own risk.
Open a listing, shop, or profile and start a conversation to ask questions or arrange a trade. Keep your messages within the platform so there is a record, and never share passwords or one-time codes. Report anyone who harasses you or behaves suspiciously.
Content & Profile
Stories are short-lived posts that appear for a limited time. Use the stories option to add an image or video. Because stories expire automatically, they are great for time-sensitive offers and quick updates.
From your profile, open the edit option to update your full name, bio, avatar, cover photo, website, and public contact or social links. You can also set a general operating location — such as your city or area — so nearby buyers can find you. Never share a precise home address.
Open your notification settings to choose which updates you receive, such as new messages and activity on your listings. You can adjust these at any time to match how you like to be kept informed.
Safety, Privacy & Account
If someone is behaving abusively, impersonating another person, or trying to scam you, report them from their profile or through our Contact page. Reports help us keep the community safe, and we investigate them fairly.
If a listing looks fake, misleading, or prohibited, report it so we can review it. Provide as much detail as you can. We may remove listings that break our Terms of Service or Community Guidelines.
Your privacy settings control who can see your profile details, contact information, and social links. Open your privacy settings to adjust the visibility of each. Share only what you are comfortable making public.
You can deactivate or delete your account from your account settings. Deactivating hides your account and prevents sign-in while keeping your data recoverable. Deleting removes or anonymises your personal information, subject to the retention rules in our Privacy Policy.
